Would You Cut Out Healthy Body Parts to Prevent Cancer?

The politically correct and polite people would say that they respect Angelina Jolie’s decision to have a double mastectomy in order to prevent breast cancer. Some say that she did what is right for her. I don’t care much for political correctness, so I would say that it is stupid.

People make mistakes. Sometimes, the decision they make may actually do them more harm than good. Given Jolie’s celebrity status, what she did is also irresponsible. Jolie said that her risk of breast cancer is now reduced from 87% to 5%. So the double mastectomy did not completely eliminate the risk of her getting cancer. Also, experts say that the figure she quote is incorrect to begin with.

There are ways to prevent cancer that does not involve cutting out healthy body parts / organ. Observing a healthy, balanced diet and working out regularly is a step in the right direction if you want to prevent cancer. Worrying about the probability of getting cancer is not going to prevent you from getting it.

It’s a shame that Jolie’s double mastectomy to prevent cancer is so widely publicized while the media neglect educating the public on natural ways to prevent cancer. So, if you feel tempted to cut out healthy body parts/organs to prevent cancer, educate yourself on alternative options.
